Greener Communities

One promotional tool that sobeys uses effectively is public relations. Sobeys is well known for its community involvement and giving back it serves. This is communicated through environmental actions. In 2006, Sobeys introduced the reusable grocery bag "Green Bag for life" in an effort to help protect the environment. Also, they provided in-store plastic bag recycling, added recycled content to plastic bags, and used stickers as a proof of purchase on larger items to reduce the use of bags. Later on the implemented a 5cent fee to plastic and paper bags to encourage customers to support their reusable options. Sobeys continues to make changes better fit their customers needs.
